A friend of mine at work used to race with Mr. Newman at Summit Point back in the 1990's. He said Paul used to hangout with the guys around the campfires at night and shoot the shit. Really nice guy he said Paul Newman was.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

+1. He was a real stand-up guy. Meet him at LRP many years ago. We talked about his racing and most specifically, the win at the 1979 Le Mans race. The sport was better as a result of his participation and many contribution.

My mother lived on the same street as Paul Newman when she was in high school and he was one of the biggest stars on earth. He used to jog by them at the bus stop every day and always waved and said "hello girls!" and would often stop and talk to them. A very fond memory for her.
An extraordinary talent on screen and track and a very kind man in life.
