"The Cars" to officially anounce reunion
OK, I know this is a stretch (or at least a pun) for "Off-Topic Cars" but...
Cars fans should keep March 14th free -- that's when the band will formally announce their reunion. Details are tight, but the new Cars lineup of singer-guitarist Todd Rundgren, bassist Kasim Sulton, lead guitarist Elliott Easton, keyboardist Greg Hawkes, and drummer Prairie Prince will host a special gathering in the greater Los Angeles area that day, at which they'll reveal the dates for their spring tour. Following the announcement, the Cars will head to The Tonight Show With Jay Leno for a live performance on that night's show. The group has recorded a live album that will also include three studio tracks, including the single "Not Tonight" that was written by Hawkes, Easton, and Rundgren. "Not Tonight" will be released March 14th. |

It's actually a blend of 2 members of the Cars, plus 3 members of Todd's group. Ric Ocasek will not participate. (With his wife, why ever leave the house?)
Here is a sneak peak (takes a minute to load, be patient) http://www.concerts.com/demofiles/Cars%20SP35730.mpg Here is the set list from a recent rehersal show in LA last month: Just What I Needed Let's Go You're All I've Got Tonite You Might Think Best Friend's Girl I Saw the Light Candy-O Not Tonight Drive Moving In Stereo Shake It Up Dangerous Type Bye bye Love encore: Open My Eyes Good Times Roll |
