Concept design isn't GM's or the other American car manufacturers' problem, it's follow through. I get that somethings just don't translate to real world, but there are plenty of details that do that, I assume for accounting purposes, just get dropped and are a major disappointment. Chevy and Ford seem to be figuring it out, I hope that they can apply their new found know how to their respective stablemates, Buick and Lincoln.

The 2009 camaro concept was virtually unchanged to production. Sure, you take some hits for visibility for that roofline, windshield and long nose, but nothing else looked like it. Try that 5 years before and there's no way it would have made it to production, but just look at how well it's sold, not a "failure" for keeping it like the concept.
