WTF? Credit Card approval?!?!

Just got this credit card in the mail today and it has my name on it. I dont remember signing up for it at all. They said I must call their 1-800 number to activate the card. I tried calling in to ask them about it but I'm not able to get through unless I enter the card number which in turn activates the account. I'm just wondering if anyone here's gotten something similar? This is from First National Card.

It is illegal to do that now. Where they send credit cards with your name and everything. I would try and somehow find some sort of customer support number. Call them say you will report them if they dont take you off their list or whatever they have.

Yeah they do have a optoutprescreen number but not really a number where I can call and ask about it. The other number will pretty much activate the card and constitute that I've accepted the card which is kind of wack.

It's happened to me with reputable cards like Bank of America or Chase. If you don't need a credit card just cut it up. Not worth risking it if/when they ask you for your SSN or home address or anything like that.

Just shred the card and all the crap in the envelope.

Speaking of shredding, always remember to shred anything with your name and address on it.

You can also get a credit freeze in most states so that nobody can access your credit without your permission. This is a credit freeze, not a fraud alert. Look it up--it's worthwhile.
