iDrive 5 v.s. iDrive 6

Hi guys,

Does anyone know if it will be possible to upgrade current cars running iDrive 5.0 to the iDrive 6.0 on the incoming g30 5? It looks to be a software thing rather than hardware - any ideas?

I think it will be possible. I think a saw in another forum a thread about that. ( i am not sure if it would be a good idea to share the post here .) it a was a matter of a simple coding

What are the differences?
Any clue about adding Apple Car Play or Android Car to standard idrive (no navi)?
