I like the concept of the Olympus A01 lens that connects via Bluetooth to your phone effectively eliminating the weakest part of a phone camera and reducing the footprint of the traditional dslr. I will probably purchase the second gen one since the first one still has some minor bugs, but works as an upgrade to your phone camera.

You can carry the lens in your car or whatever to ensure it's always with you, and since it's Bluetooth doesn't necessarily need to be attached to the smart phone to take photos to give you better shot placement if need be.

I like the Olympus version. I actually believe the Sony version was more limited to its Experia phones (although could be used in Android) and has been discontinued. I may be wrong though.

This reminds me of how they were positive quartz watches were going to destroy the entire industry (and for watches the quartz are actually superior in terms of accuracy, but here there are clear advantages to the old tech). There will be a seismic market shift - they aren't ever getting the selfie crowd back - but I think there will always be a market for something better.

I need something that is easier to lug around while traveling and something that has amazing auto focus capabilities. I love the SLR concept for seeing what your shooting. This mirrorless design seems to be the best of both worlds. Would you buy the a6500 again or is there another model I should be looking at? Thanks.
I looked into mirrorless cameras a few months back and ultimately bought an XT-2. It's not as small as the a6500 but is still pretty portable. The Fuji 18-55 kit lens takes amazing pictures. I just came back from a 3 week trip to SEA and all I brought with me were the XT2 w/18-55 and 35mm f2. I'm sure the sony is good but you'd have to buy their higher end lenses to take good pictures. If you want even more portability, look into the x100f with fixed 23mm lens or the xt20. A few times I wished the XT2 was a bit lighter but I'd gladly choose the slightly heavier weight and ruggedness over the smaller XT20.

A6500 with Sigma 30mm 1.4

went to a wedding this Sunday. I took my A6500 with me and just left it at aperture priorty. OMG this cam w/ this lens is amazing. I wasnt even trying and just casually shooting with one hand....jpeg only as I wanted to share it instantly. Around 90/100 pics were all in focus (kids running around, etc). Im not a pro but this cam just makes it so easy. Funny thing was that everyone that had a camera (excluding the hired pros) was all Sony except for one nikon guy.

Did an indoor video at sunset around 8:30 est (lots of windows) with low lighting and the video came out like it was mid-day

About sony native lens...most good lens are expensive but there are some very reasonable priced ones like the 18-105 and 50mm. Also Sigma make E Mount lens like the 30mm 1.4

If you do get sony, make sure to get extra batteries

Also the Eye AF is amazing (focus lock on the eye of a person)...changing the game in Portriats.

The image zoom is also a great feature as you can use a fix prime and use it like a zoom lens without losing image quality.

Holyshit I can go on and on on these cameras and there are so many things I havent explored yet
