They aren't selling tickets yet. This may be my most looked forward to movie in a long time! Hope it doesn't suck!

So, IF they get towards The Drawing of the Three, how is Roland going to come forward and change to blue eyes? Or how is Detta going to call him "hawnk muffah"???

Still excited!!!!!!!

Finally made it to the cheap theatre last Thursday, wife agreed to go.

So outside of Roland, Walter, Jake, and the house that tried to attack Jake, was there ANYTHING else in there that came from the books?

The movie itself was enjoyable, but because I was expecting things from the book, I was disappointed.

Let's hope they still do the television series and it sticks closer to the books.

From a reader standpoint, or just the movie itself? I was mildly entertained, and for $3.50/ticket I really couldn't complain much. Fulfilled my weekly husbandry duty to take the wife out, and could go play soccer with a clear conscience on Friday night.

Having read the book some years ago, and then the anticipation for the movie adaption - I was completely underwhelmed at the movie.

I felt this way at first, but then realized it wasn't going to be an adaptation really. Then I sat back and enjoyed the cinema.

When the credits were rolling and it said "based on the novels by Stephen King" I started to yell "LOOSELY at best"

I was disappointed as well. I really wanted it to be an 8 movie series or something to replicate the actual story better.

The Dark Tower movie was never intended as an adaptation of the books; it is more like a reset or new iteration of the eternal quest (if you finished the books you know what that means, if not I'm trying to avoid spoilers )

The TV series should cover similar occurrences but again it won't mirror the books as it is a "new" story.

I don't know if I buy that. Roland's dad and friends were alive at the beginning of the movie which kind of doesn't mesh with that explanation.

Not sure how that changes my explanation? I haven't seen the movie yet, but are you sure that wasn't a flashback or anything?

The books had the same thing (flashbacks to Roland's youth/training/etc).
