I think you both are severely underestimating our fur-hatted capacity for the cold. But bring it on!

Do tell. Don't tell me that he gave in to temptation and bought milk in a bag so he could view its shimmering properties without the obstruction of a carton, and then attempted to cover it up by drinking it all and hiding the empty bags? Gasp, the horror.

Dude, this is serious!

I have these shorts I wear even in the winter if it's not that cold (-5 c or warmer) and these epic pants, we Finns even have a word for the look. Pieruverkkarit which basically mean they have been worn out so long ago, you can't walk by a mirror with them on. Mine were only five years old, worn to everything from construction sites to painting and some mean spirited people could say it was showing a bit. They had a few tiny holes in them (well, they were specially air conditioned because half of the backside was gone) the shorts were completely socially acceptable if I was sitting down too.

I've been running around adulting for a few days now so I have had to west actual clothes with less holes and that mother fucker had burned my favorite clothes!!!!! How cruel can a person be?! I only wore either in public seldom and usually with a long shirt! They were still completely okay!!

So clearly the mean fucker is trying to push me to go shopping, or to unpack my shit from our last move, or to kill me with jeans and this is a clear retaliation for not buying the stupid house!

I admit, I'm curious about this house. Since you're not going to buy it, is there a link to view this house that you want to email me? I feel like it probably isn't run down, because you'd probably like that, but I'm curious. Send to usual address if you are emailing.

I have this short sleeve button up Hawaiian shirt that I quite like - it is actually quite subdued, not bright at all, just a yellow and white floral print. It's my shirt for wearing around the house from spring to fall. I tend not to do up the buttons, so it billows around me, nice breeze. My wife hates it. Has threatened to make it disappear. But then I just remind her of all her old stuff that she loves so dearly because its comfortable and how I will retaliate in kind.

Needless to say, I still have my Hawaiian shirt.

I can't find your email address (don't ask...) and I'll be coerced into that. It is completely awful now, but I have a pretty solid plan how to fix it all! Email me and I'll give you a link.

You didn't end up in a blender, and you get to keep your favorite clothes! I think you're my new idol which is yet again a new level of pathetic I have to deny later in life.

Gary Bettman has been infiltrated by the Russians. I think Mueller needs to step in and do an investigation.

What a shameful display from Canada today. While I hold a german passport I have zero joy watching them beat Canada in Hockey.

Canada has 421 players currently playing in the NHL. There are probably another 300 ineligible because they are under NHL contract playing in the AHL, ECHL, or signed draft picks returned to the CHL. In other words, at best, that team featured Canada's 700th best hockey player. Germany has 7 players in the NHL. For Canada to be playing for a medal is hardly shameful.

To be fair, the US is probably without it's top 400 players and Sweden without its top 130. No one should be surprised that three of the four teams vying for the gold medal have only a relative few players ineligible for this tournament (Russia <50, Czech Republic <50, Germany <10).

Lastly, the NHL was absolutely right to draw the line where they did. NHL players means shutting down their league for weeks, causing a compressed schedule that negatively impacts the quality of NHL games and exposes players to higher changes of injury ... all for the profit of the IOC and IIHF. The NHL's "demands" were pretty simple: continue to pay the insurance premiums you've always paid in exchange for using our players. The IOC and IIHF refused thinking the NHL wasn't serious about walking away and that they could line their pockets with the insurance savings was too tempting for them. Further, the idea that the NHL gets free publicity is a red herring ... the evidence is clear that they get no viewership bump on US or Canadian TV as a result of the Olympics. TV ratings always revert to their norms ... in 2014, in 2010, in 2006, in 2002. John Ourand and Richard Deitsch have specifically detailed the fallacy about the promotional value of having NHL players in the Olympics.

I agree with the business decision of NHL not to participate but still painful to see Canada lose to Germany of all the nations. Nothing against Germans but I equate that to our national soccer team beat Germany's. I wonder what the Germans would think of that.

Yup, we cut the distance to Norway down to 9 medals. The cherry topping had been a win against Russia at icehockey, but we should be pleased with the achieved successes, was in multiple ways better than for 4 years ago.

Best moments/performances for me:
  • Ester Ledecká - simply remarkable for what she accomplished
  • Virtue & Moir - it was already incredible but Long Time Running took it over the top
  • Mikaël Kingsbury - dominant performance with all that pressure to follow in the footsteps of Bilodeau and Brassard
  • Germany's Men's Hockey Team - great for the sport
  • Men's 2-man Bobsled - dead heat result and the coolest reaction at the finish line by the Germans (and Kripps' description afterward)
  • SebTouts - with all the hype and expectations on McMorris/Parrot/CGK/Bergrem/Kleveland for the podium to line up that way was pretty awesome
  • Mark McMorris - considering how close to death he was a year ago, just competing is remarkable, let alone a bronze medal.
  • Jamie Anderson/Laurie Blouin - given the stupidity of running that event in those wind gusts, awesome performances, especially Blouin after the crash the day before and with that nasty shiner.
  • The Norwegians - all those dominant performances with class and grace.

See ... all those great moments, and not a mention of a Finn or Swede and only one token American.

schoy you're getting no complaints from me. Canada-US hockey rivalries have completely replaced Canada-Russia and with the women, every Olympic final is riveting, fascinating hockey. The Americans turned over their roster more than Canada did and it showed with more team speed. In the end, the game came down to a brutal mistake on a line change by Canada and a shootout (which is a terrible way to end a team game). Full credit to the American team ... you can have one every 5th Olympics.

After that, I thought the best American stories were Chloe Kim, your men's curlers, Diggins/Randall, and Chris Madzer. OTOH, when the hell did we become better at figure skating and long track speed skating (we been better for a long time at short track, freestyle skiing, bobsleigh)?

Was fun watching it. I think I like the winter games better than summer. Now 2.5 years wait for the next games.
