LOL
As soon as I read this news about tt v10 on R8, I knew that there would be only one person who would post this quickly....Good work I was a little disappointed earlier this year ,when I heard that Audi was axing the RS6 tt v10 for the R8 and, going with the NA V10.Anyway, I am glad that its back on. This car will be a monster in straight and on the track with the TT V10 ...

I dont know if I would be dissapointed with a NA V10 because look at the success of the NA V8 in the RS4 and R8. Simply amazing... However, now that they have produced the V10TT I would love to see it in the R8. It has been complimented for it's massive amount of power and it's torque and how accessible it is. Tiff Needel himself likened the RS6 to the Veyron and M5 to the Maclaren F1. Regarding the name, I think it could be R8 V10. If there is a V12 version it would be R8 V12. However, we could see R8-S and R8-R like we will for the TT-S and TT-R

This must make you happy HKS .
I for one can't wait for this thing. This car's chassis deserves an engine like this.

How sure are we about this released info on the R8 getting this engine, I remember seeing the pics of the R8 being burn out and put two and two together thinking that this must have been the turboed engine R8. If they have gotten the heat sorted then this will be the daddy of all Sportscars, like 580hp is a shit load to have in a big estate like the RS6 never mind something which will weigh over 500Kgs less. I wonder will they cap the topspeed to appease their new master Porsche. In fact I will be amazing if Porsche allow such a thing to go ahead. As for a possible name....R8RS has a nice ring to it, I would be sinful to just call it R8V10TT when the car is so much much than that. P.S. I wonder where such a car would leave the likes of BMW, a case of the M6 picking up the scraps from the R8's feast. |

1) The original Le Mans Concept back in 2003 featured a 5.0 V10TT 2) Audi have suprised us by puting a 5.0 V10TT in a RS6 Estate, so why not put the engine their supercar? why build a new one when they already have a beastly engine in production that would MORE than just suit the R8 I think the fact that the test car burnt out could lead us to believe this too.

I wouldn't have thought that the RS6 would have been the sole benefactor of this mighty engine, Audi would surely have a use for it else where and maybe even in something other than an Audi is a possibility.
Logically one would expect it's most sporty car should get this engine and even farther a field, the big Bentleys would also benefit with this beast under it bonnet. |
