My vote, depending on how big you are, is a used Lotus Elise. I know you said you wanted something that felt powerful, but once you feel how it moves you forgive it instantly. My Exige is relatively the same thing, and I've adored it for the last 12 years.

you know, i've looked at those... and then i started typing up a disparaging "it's slow" response, then paused, googled the stats... ok, you may be on to something.

i'm still not a fan of how it looks, but a V10 coupe for under the 80k+ you need for an R8 is mighty tempting.

Just be sure you know how this engine works. It's not like an LS3/LT1 where you just start up and go. Although you should warm up any big block engine, the BMW V10 has several "steps" to follow to unlock the full power. I think Doug did a good show on it with the M5. Besides the reliability issue, it just looks like it's more headache than worth it. You don't have 500hp on tap just driving around all the time.

Haha ikr, I thought my tuned n54 335is was faster but no, seems like it even has a little bit more HP. I even thought to supercharge it but didn't look to much into it... I think I'll be satisfied with the sound alone. My 335is will be my rocket when I upgrade the turbos.

Other thing to know is it's the S85 so rod bearing issues. If you're not a DIYer M6 can start getting pretty expensive to maintain... I'm also only looking for stick I don't want any of that SMG headache. Engine is gonna be enough hahaha.

Yeah the looks are... I mean, they have grown on me for sure. I much more like the M6 coupe look than the M5 sedan. Don't look to bad with a lip...

Great choice. Though considering the dealer had it listed as "Midnight blue" and not Jerez black, they probably don't know too much about E9x M3's. Knowing this I'd do an oil change because I'm willing to bet they didn't put 10w60 in there. But that's just me.

i was going down the '01 911TT rabbit hole, but those prices are stupid. they bottomed out in the 20s, and now you can't touch one for under 40.

This will probably be my next build once I get bored of the Goblin. Figured I’d start small and make sure I could commit to a larger project like the mk4
