Suggestion for scooter above 125cc or above and DIY maintenance

I'm looking to buy a scooter 125cc and above for daily use in the city during summer and wormer days (spring, autumn). Also I plan doing maintenance myself, to save money, but also I love doing some work myself during weekends etc. I have Tomos moped from 1986 which I drive for fun but it is not registered.

Do you have any suggestion for fun, reliable, DIY maintenance friendly scooter 125cc or above?

I have a 2016 BMW C650 Sport. Not sure if that's too big for you or not. I do have to do a service interval on it. I haven't looked in the shop manual or owner's manual to see what is required. I did pick up a GS-911 scan tool which will allow me to scope the ECU and also reset the routine service indicator. The engine is made by Kymco which is a Taiwanese scooter manufacturer known to make pretty good scooters. I think you can pick up a good used C650 GT or Sport in Europe pretty easily.

The other scooter I'd probably look into is the Kymco AK550. So far lots of positive press on it. As you can tell, I prefer the maxi-scooters over the 250cc and below ones. Even the 400cc scooters don't do it for me.

I forgot to mention why I say you can pick up a used BMW C650 is because BMW stopped producing them. The C650 Sport was discontinued I think in 2018. The C650 GT was discontinued I think last year. If you're looking to buy new, there may be some leftovers.

Most modern scooters are going to be DIY friendly. There just isn’t that much to them. See for example work I did on my previous Vespa 250 GTS
