Holy crap another sidewall tear on tire
I can't remember how many freaking tires I've had to replace due to finding like a 2cm tear in the sidewall. Just bad luck or is there anything I can do about it?
I doubt it but just in case asking you guys. Tx.

No, esp since the tear was found on the inside for my latest one.

Montreal roads strike again?
Whenever I go to MTL, those roads have me wondering how people aren't blowing tires left and right. Higher profile tires (more sidewall) or smaller diameter tires would help but I don't know what kind of options you have for your car. I think higher load rated tires may have stiffer side walls as well . |

I have the Pirelli P7 runflats, and so far I have four tire failures due to jagged sidewall cuts or complete sidewall blowouts. One replacement was for a big sidewall bulge, but it was probably on the way to failure.
I don’t know if it’s caused by specific problems with the Pirelli’s or general issues with the vulnerability of 19” runflats. One sidewall blowout was definitely due to hitting a large pothole, but the others happened after driving on a road that was just generally rough due to recent construction. |

Whoa, you guys are onto something re RFTs...glad I asked the internet. I'm not a fan but during winter, I just thought maybe they are a good idea instead of getting stranded, but now that I think about it, I don't think that I ever had a sidewall tear for my summers (reg tires).
I hope to get the timing right so that all 4 of my winter RFTs can wear out and I can finally switch to reg tires. I'm sure our lousy roads contribute as well, just yesterday I felt like I was doing offroad. Really disgusting some of the roads here.
