Building a new desktop- Suggestions?

Hi,

I am building a PC for about $1500 and here is what I am looking at getting within a few days. I may or may not OC the processor, but am looking for something ultra realiable for my business. What do you guys think:

(1) Antec P180 Case

(2) Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 300 MB/s Hard Drive

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card

ZALMAN CNPS7700-CU 120mm 2 Ball Cooling Fan with Copper Heatsink

CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Toledo 2000MHz HT Socket 939 Dual Core Processor

All feedback is welcome. Thanks!

I'm not going for a gaming PC, but something more high-end and stable.

I would hold off ..

Vista is coming out soon (we hope!) and anything you buy now, even top of the line, is going to struggle.

I've been running the betas for some time now and this thing is a RESOURCE HOG.

Are you saying the 2gb ram and the 4400 dual core processor won't be sufficient for Vista?

I am posting all this replays using Microsoft Windows Vista Beta 2 Home edition with IE 7 and Office 2007 Beta 2.
So far, I liked.
Was running very slow when I installed first time on Microsoft Virtual PC.
When I reinstall Vista on VMwere (another virtual workstation) - runs great. No single crush yet. O , yes, and I'm running Windows Vista on 512 MB of RAM

2gig of ram on a 64 bit processor, in my opinion is not enough for vista

processor itself, I am running the same on my test box and there are times when it struggles.

theres more to a machine than just the processor and memory. vista dumps the entire interface on the GPU instead of the processor so your going to need a very good directx compliant vid card. also takes advantage of the latest hardware such as native command queuing on sata II drives.

if you remember, when XP first came out there was a ton of hardware that was 'XP ready' but the truth of the matter is it took a couple months for the hardware manufacturers to really catch up to what was needed to run xp well.

disclaimer - this is all my opinion after years of beta testing ms oses from the days of win95. i myself am holding off ...

BitSream is right!

New Windows Vista required new hardware, OS check your hardware and give your computer rating -> 1 is a wors.
