I really enjoyed The Creator, in October. Nice to watch a science fiction film with no series / history. Very on topic, with regards to AI being the central thread to the story.

100% agree. I cancelled Netflix too and turned it back on for a month for my wife to finish something she’s watching and then it’s gone again. The original content just doesn’t justify the price. So many documentaries, foreign-based dubbed series and series targeting an audience other than me. Can always jump back in for a few months if they have something interesting. Not paying their prices to watch nothing but old reruns of stuff I once liked.

I do the same with other services like Apple TV, Paramount etc. The only ones I have all the time is HBO (because I have cable HBO through HOA) and Amazon because of Prime. I RARELY find anything worth watching on Netflix anymore. If something does come out I'll use my friends account.

I don't know why so many of their stuff is dubbed to English these days (I'm guessing it's cheaper?). I really liked the Dark series though and the dubbing is much better than back in the day. Still not much for me on there.

I also cancelled Hulu recently and cancelled Apple a long time ago. I have Prime for the same reason as you and HBO (I guess MAX now) + SHO through YouTube TV. Also get Paramount+ and Peacock at no charge for some other subs. Streaming is really just like cable but fragmented. Expensive, tons to watch but not much worth watching.

As far as the dubbed stuff on Netflix, I think they have original programming in multiple markets and try to pass it off everywhere as interesting. Dubbing is better nowadays but just don’t think most of that stuff is worth the premium price.

Not good with long movies but if I wait for it to come home I can watch it in parts, which is what I do with a lot of movies these days.

I agree it looks good, but I also get the distinct feeling I saw the whole plot in the trailer already. Please let us know if there are any twists to be had by actually watching it.

Yes I really enjoyed The Creator as well, I'm surprised it didn't pick up more momentum than it did.

Looking forward to the story, but is anyone else bumped by the fact that Napoleon doesn't have a French or European accent?

You're right that sometimes trailers reveal too much. Some people won't watch them because of that. I admit I watch them, but it's because I want to know a little about the movie, but not too much. And yeah, this might be too much.

I HATE when they have fake accents to represent russians, germans, frenchies, or any other non-English group. Find actors that speak the language, or else play it straight. Its horribly distracting for me. IMHO YMMV.

Playing it straight, like Captain First Rank Marko Alexandrovich Ramius … a Soviet Submarine captain, with the thickest Scottish accent this side of 1990

Typical of Sean Connery. Wherever he goes, his Scottish accent goes. Highlander and The Untouchables come to mind, and of course the Bond movies.

I like his accent; wouldn’t be Connery without it.
