2017 330i Question
Since I am new to BMWs, I thought I would ask the community...I test drove a 2017 330i (4cyl twin turbo 8spd) yesterday and loved it. Its 51k miles and literally has every option available at that time....its fully loaded, it was VERY well maintained, serviced only through BMW, Estoril Blue and looks like new. 2 owners and the current owner bought it CPO from BMW dealer. He had it listed for $23,500, but is willing to sell it for 22k. He took a decent chunk of time going over the entire car with me and was very thorough and forthcoming so I dont feel hes trying to be shady...however, I have tried through all appraisal sites (KBB, Edmunds, Cars.com...etc) to try and get close to that for a private sale and the closest I can get is $18,500....that being said, id still gladly pay 20k cash for the car as its a beautiful car...but my question is do you think he is asking too much? Thanks so much

A car is worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. I would gladly pay 4k more than whatever kbb shows to have a car in fantastic condition with the options and color I want, but that's me. You can offer 20k, but be ready to walk if he doesn't accept your price

Sounds like its price is a little high. Here’s a listing on the f30 forum for a ‘17 330i xdrive for < $20k. It’s a decent listing so you should be able to compare the 330i you test drove with this listing. I’m not familiar with the f30 used market but the F8x market is finally starting to soften but prices are still a bit high. Seems like the price should be $18-19k if kbb is accurate for this market. $22.5k is definitely high but if it had all the options you want and color as well as well maintained than it could be worth more to you.

I didn’t look at the pictures too closely. I was using it more as an example to compare options and mileage as a comparison to the 330i the OP is considering to help define used f30 pricing.

edit: I did a couple of searches in the Detroit area and didn’t find it. If you’d like to post a link we can take a look at it and let you know if we see any red flags. One other thought. You’re not likely to find many rwd BMWs in the Detroit area/upper Midwest. edit 2: not to discourage you from buying the car you are looking at, because rwd rules!! But, this guy whose car was posted earlier lowered his price yet again today. In my opinion it’s a steal, even though it’s not really low mileage. As you can see in the thread I have questioned why no Bimmerposter has bought it. I honestly don’t understand why he’s had such a hard time finding a buyer. It’s probably the most loaded non-M Sport 330i I’ve ever seen. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2018366

Yes! its all AWD up here in MI...but now that I work full remote I dont drive much in the winter, so I dont mind so much. He did end up coming down a little lower to $21,500....so not knowing much about BMW values, seemed a little high still, but its a config that I really like....so, the wheels were set in motion and im picking it up tomorrow =)
HERE is the listing |

Congrats!! I think you did very well!! Welcome to the dark side. You’re going to find pretty quickly you are now ruined.
That guy looks pretty solid and it sounds like he’s a car guy, both from his FB profile and your description of the time he took with you. My rwd 340i M Sport also came from Leith BMW. I flew to Raleigh in July and picked it up from the second owner and drove it back to Chicago. I have a set of 17” wheels and winter tires I’m about to put on. We’re supposed to get some somewhat significant snow next week. I’ve had rwd in Chicago for twelve years and always put on a dedicated set of wheels and winter tires and I’ve never had any problems.
