Hopefully R&D leads to longer lasting batteries and more dynamic EVs. Today's LFP and Li-ion just don't cut it will calendar aging affecting them significantly more than cyclic aging when frequently charged above 50% capacity.

What's the point of owning an EV when driving range has to be curtailed to prolong the battery life?

My opinion is that the technology of electric vehicles is still far from perfect. At a minimum, we need to wait for the use of a new generation of batteries, namely a solid-state structure. And the infrastructure is also not yet ready to provide everyone with the convenience of charging. And driving an electric car is not the same as driving a gasoline one.

That's what I also think. We were thinking of going for the Macan 4 then realized PTV Plus (torque vectoring) wasn't available and it was $15,000 Canadian more than we expected.

Then, reading up more on batteries on TeslaMotorClub, I realized calendar aging effect on batteries are more pronounced than cyclic aging. This is true also for LFP batteries. That's why we can hear about some BEV owners talking about their cars hitting 200-300,000 miles on the original battery but we rarely hear about owners bragging their 12 year-old BEVs are still on their original batteries. Most battery packs probably throw a major error or two past 10 or 11 years, conveniently after the eight-year warranty period.

https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/thre...-cells.311793/

Yeah, and for people who cannot charge at home or at work for free, charging BEVs will be as costly as refueling with gasoline, in many cases, and also more detrimental due to higher voltage and temperature.

We were considering to fall back on the ICE Macan but realized that the M Sport Differential on the M Performance BMW vehicles have the better torque vectoring. The one on the ICE Macan is brake-based but the one on the BMW is really torque vectoring. The 30i can be optioned with the Dynamic Performance Control with the M Package but it's also brake-based. So it's a no brainer for us to await for the G45 specs and once released, can also start looking at used 2022-2024 X30 M40is with a few packages/options we want.

So just when I had finally wrapped my head around the consistency of:

M40i -> B58 i6 for 1->5er and X1->X4er
M50i -> N63 v8 for 5er->8er and X5-X7er

they go and make the B58 an M50i? Is there going to be an M60i next?

The X5 M50i is now the X5 M60i and has the S63 engine.

Just so I'm clear, the electric hybrid is coming back to the US? Had the 2020 X3 30e and thought it was an excellent car. Sad it went away. I'm in the market for another X3. If the 30e is coming back I may hold off until later in the year when it's at dealerships.

Will the X3M (F97) be produced longer than the G01 or do I get something wrong?

So my question is, if the F97 will be produced when there is already the G45 on the market?

Only a guess, but if past history is consistent looking at ~ 2-1/2 years. Discussion and reasoning in the G97 X3MC thread: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2048371

I have great hopes, the ice X models are the only good looking cars left in BMW

The others are designed by tripping meth smoking mushroom eating crack heads.

The top post wasn't exactly correct. X3 40d xDrive will be offered from 03/25. Other models are also possible in the future.

Hmm... the lease on my G21 is ending beginning of next year. Can someone confirm the launch of the new X3 is indeed in October or June?

The new ICE X3 starts its production cycle in August of this year.

The reveal will occur in mid-June.

Will the allocations at the end of June be for the 2025 build in August?

I've heard conflicting reports. This day and age, they really need to bring the hybrid back. I almost bought an X5 45e, but they transitioned to the 50e before I was ready and I just can't stomach the insane price increase. Really hoping this X3 is a smaller, cheaper alternative. Too bad they are limiting the power to 300hp though, seems really low for the direction BMW is going with PHEVs lately.

"Intro models: Worldwide 20d xDrive, 20 xDrive, 30e xDrive, M50 xDrive; US 30 xDrive and M50 xDrive."

No plan for 30e in the US per first post in this thread. Agree it seems like a miss, especially when Volvo has the XC60 Recharge and Audi has the Q5e. But guess they want people to upgrade to the X5. I considered that myself, but have no interest in such a large car - ended up ordering '24 M40i, settled for "mild hybrid."
