Cup holders in really dumb spot?
Just an observation and I'm wondering what the logic was...
It appears as though the cup holders are right in front of the spot where you wirelessly charge your phone, or plug in devices. If you have a drink in the cup holder and accidentally bump it, or go to reach for it while you hit an unexpected bump in the road, that drink is spilling all over your phone and/or expensive gadgets. Also potentially ruining the ports if nothing is plugged into them. Maybe I'm being a bit anal, but this just seems like a really dumb design decision. Don't put electronics where food/drinks are...period. Alright...I'm done being a baby :-) Does it bother anyone else or am I the only one? |

So far, I guess so, but it's early!
When I connect my iPhone to its nightstand charger at the end of the day, it usually has about 20% still remaining, so I just keep a rarely-used charging cord in the console for emergencies.

Modern phones are very water resistant. Get a sippy cup. Ratings of IP68 are common now for phones.

Your points are valid. But having said that, the new design isn't fundamentally different from the current gen X3. Haven't really heard people complain about liquids getting into their center console USB port. So while it's a risk, it is probably fine in most day-to-day situations (and with some common sense measures).

That being said, you are partially correct. The design is terrible, but moreso because having cups in the holders makes it really hard to get your phone in and out of the charger area. I didn't have any problems with spilling onto my phone. |

I have the same asinine setup on my GLS! Americans love big drinks so good luck sliding a phone behind these cups (I hear Stanleys are quite big)! |
