The "masses" are begging to be controlled. Or as Forest Gump once said, "Stupid is, as stupid does".

Now if the EPA were to demand customer records and then start chasing down people who may have committed felonies, then maybe things get weird. No problem for me, when I had my car tuned, I asked the tuner to leave my O2 sensors on and not turn off my catalytic overtemp. I pass emissions just fine.

Which takes us back to Forest Gump. Sometimes you get that weird jelly thing from the box of chocolates, and sometimes you know how to figure out which is the butter cream.

No, the masses are begging for other people they don't agree with to be controlled. In their eyes, they hold the moral high ground, and that's all that matters to them.

People have lost the "doesn't affect me so it doesn't bother me", and now everyone thinks they have to be an advocate for every cause that their opinion drivers tell them to care about.

Not sure the outcome is any different. If everyone is trying to control everyone else, you still end up with the same situation.

Some are trying to assert control through legislation, some through economic means, some through disapproval. I don't feel any of those things impact me.

I am not so certain that it "doesn't affect me, so it doesn't bother me" was ever the case for the "masses". Maybe now people just don't like being called out for interfering in other people's business? Maybe they cannot stand the disapproval? People will always rationalize some way that everything "affects them".
