Question Driving Assistance Professional Package

In the US, does Driving Assistance Professional Package on the 2025 G45 include Highway Assistant (hands-free driving at speeds up to 85 mph on controlled-access highways with Active Lane Change)?

No where in the configurator do I actually see "Highway Assistant" 😟

If so, what does "controlled-access highways" mean? Typical interstate freeways with onramp/offramps? Or something more specific?

Thanks!

No. It requires hands at a much lower speed 40mph or less, unlike other recent BMW models.

Are you sure about that? I don't think that's the case for the Pro package (DAPP) which is what the OP was asking about. This is how it's described in the US ordering guide:

5AU - Active Driving Assistant Pro
Permanent Hands-off on motorways up to 60MPH.
Hands-on assisted driving up to 130MPH on all streets.
Includes all content of 5AS and 5AT.

I was going off the review I watched. I’ll try to dig it out.

Time stamp around 24:28

“ Neither X3 trim comes standard with the $900 Parking Assistance Package or $1,700 Driving Assistance Professional Package. We’d skip both – particularly since hands-free driving only works up to 40 mph.”

I have it on my X5M. Its good and bad.. it only works in traffic up to 40 MPH for full hands off. after that you ned to have a finger or something on the wheel as it senses pressure.
The system is very sensitive so if you aren to looking straight ahead it keeps warning you to pay attention. ( so you can't be on your phone etc) it warns me if I have my elbow on the door and I'm supporting my head that I'm not paying attention...
I usually will not put on the full hands off and just keep a finger or something on the wheel.

Does the system work like most DAP packages WITHOUT highway assist (Hands-free up to speeds of 80 MPH on designated motorways)? I have a driver assistance pro package that does not have a camera watching the driver on my 23 G30. Highway assist was not an option. If you have a camera I assume it is only active and sensitive when you are in the enhanced mode (Highway assist) versus just Driver assist wth the green steering wheel. Is the camera only on with Highway assist or the enhanced mode?

X3 is not capable of extended handsfree driving but the camera seems to be active all the time. When you watch youtube reviews, you can actually see the infrared LEDs besides the camera flickering.

I think this part of the “caring car” thing and monitors head/eye movement to detect fatigue/tiredness.
