Probably November/December arrival for early cars. From memory Q1 2025 was mentioned for UK delivery in the launch stuff.

Although, interestingly some Uk BMW dealers are showing cars as in stock on Autotrader, but with computer generated images unless it’s changed. Most seem to be 2.0d models.

Rosslyn South Africa is also now producing the G45, and will build the 30e exclusively. Not sure where the non M50 models will be built for the UK.

Maybe I’ll give them a call to go see their in stock car.

I contacted the BMW dealer to arrange to view the car advertised below as in stock. It turns out it’s not a G45, so images are for deception only, not illustrative purposes lol.

I ordered mine in September. At the time it had a build start date of 15 Oct with delivery 29 November.

Just checked with dealer, still those dates in the system. Status has now changed to ‘production scheduled’.

It’s funny, the sales guy emailed me a couple of times asking if I’d like to start a factory order for a G45. I explained that I’d need to see a production car in the flesh, as I wasn’t impressed with the pre-production M50, and feedback re the interior quality was concerning.

To para phrase the sales guy, no one knows what they are like because it isn’t available yet, so there are no reviews.

I think the M50 is US mate.

Yes, M50 Spartanburg exclusive at present, 30e Rosslyn exclusive. Just wasn’t clear at the time.

Anyone has more info on the availability of a 30d for the UK? I'd like to downscale from the X5, but definitely not into a hybrid thing...

According to some review videos BMW is supposed to be launching a 6 pot diesel at some point in 2025. How true, I don’t know, and I guess it won’t be available in North America.

If it does, my guess would be for the new model year, but there is little detail about if it’s happening, or in what form that I’v seen so far. Having driven the 40i, I preferred the M40d as an SUV power train, as to me it is better suited. Plus, that 700nm torque is addictive.

I drive a lot around Cornwall country lanes, so any increase in external dimensions is red flag. I do like how in the US some offer the X3 as a “city car” because it’s compact. Imagine that here …..

LOL That's also why I want to downgrade from an X5 BTW -- just too much stress on smaller roads. Luckily on the white X5 I have now the clear coat marks don't show up as much, but yeah having to hug the hedges doesn't help the paint...

As for a diesel, I also drive quite a bit between Berks and Mid-Wales (where there is zero chance of having a charger) so forget these idiotic hybrids, I want a normal plain straight 6 diesel, thank you!

Some announcements for Europe said it might be mid of 2025 for 40D.

Interesting to see someone else 'downscaling' from the X5!

TBH I wanted an X3 last time around as well, but the lead time was massive, and BMW gave me a massive discount on the one I have now so... (Plate 72)

Speaking to the dealer - official UK launch date is 30th Nov - so wouldn't expect any handovers before then
