The factory tint is good for reducing light, but it doesn't actually help much with reducing heat from the sun. I'm getting heat rejection film installed next week on my G45.

I drove literally 20 mins from the dealer to my PPF shop and had them do it tints on the windshield and front windows. With what BMW calls vents I was dying in a 70 degree day on that short drive. Good luck to those in the South and warmer climiates! Can't imagine what it's like in the summer.

BMW SAVs come with privacy glass in the rear and back windows. Little or no UV or heat rejection (never seat back there so really just guessing on how well it works, or not). G45 I drove had the same privacy treatment. I always tint the front doors' windows and it helps immensely in Florida.

One interesting new wrinkle with the G45 is the large one-piece panoramic sunroof. I love the look, and plan to keep the shade open pretty much permanently. But that means I definitely need to do something about the heat coming in from up top. I rode in the back seat a few times over the weekend, and the heat was very noticeable.
Planning to have my installer do Llumar Air 80 on the sunroof. |
