2025 X3 M50 RPM vs Power Display
I took an X3 M50 out for a quick test drive this weekend and I noticed that the dash only displayed RPM when I was driving in Sport mode. Every other mode displayed Power %.
I tried to bring up RPM in other driving modes, like Personal mode, but I was unable to do it. I was only in the car for a short period of time and I did not have enough time to dive into every menu setting. Can RPM be display in modes like Personal and Efficient? TIA |

Power % may literally be an RPM gauge with the RPMs replaced with percentages though. |

I suppose it could be weighted to actually show horse power, which you'd be able to tell by putting it in manual mode and seeing if power starts to go down after the peak power RPM. Easy test but you'd have to cross the 4500 RPM break in limit so I'll wait. |

Has anyone figured out how to display RPM in any mode besides Sport? It looks like the X5 can do it by changing the 'Layout' using the buttons on the steering wheel in addition to having a tachometer display option in the car settings menu.

Which drive mode are you in? Are you in Personal? The M50 I drove in the USA did not offer an RPM layout via those steering wheel buttons in Personal.

I am in the US and I was able to get RPM to show in Personal mode using ModernAngel's steps. Have you all actually tried the steps on their video?
There's a misleading quirk in the UI where if you're just scrolling through the "Layout" options, it still shows you Power instead of RPM--but once you actually click to complete the selection, it switches over to RPM. |

Ok, I didn’t try to click into each layout. I assumed what I was being shown as I scrolled through was what would be displayed if I clicked each layout.
I turned up the volume and I now see what you are saying in the video. The display changes when he clicks. Good news, thanks. |

Yeah your assumption was completely reasonable. This is probably a software UI bug that hopefully BMW will fix eventually. But thankfully the selection still gets applied correctly once you actually click to select the layout.

Yeah, I'm in the US. I also have spent my entire career working with computers and UI design so I'm happy to just go into any new piece of tech and start messing with buttons and clicking around to see what everything does.
That's what I did on my M50. |

Thanks for the video. I don’t own the car yet so I can’t experiment with the UI. Does the RPM layout you set in Personal carry over to the Efficient drive mode?

Yes, totally a UI bug, the other views change as you scroll through them but not RPM without the click. |

Looked into this last night. It doesn't look like you can change the tach/power/rpm display in "Efficient" mode, unfortunately.
