Extended warranty / maintenance?

Curious to hear what other people have done (or are contemplating) with regard to extended warranty and/or maintenance plans. Did you buy any of the OEM plans? Going for aftermarket warranty? No intention to buy anything at all? etc

I opted out of buying any plans right away at the dealership. But I'm seriously considering either the OEM or Fidelity extended warranty. However I don't know how best to think about it. I took a hiatus from the BMW family, so I'm kinda rusty. And I'm new to the SUV rodeo in general. But my E82 1-series needed a lot of costly warranty repair work back in the day, so I'm wary of BMWs on this front.

Wondering what everyone else here thinks.

Forgot to add - I intend to keep my X3 for 10+ years, assuming it holds up well. Hopefully that's reasonable at about 8,000 miles driven per year.
