what in the world is this horrible noise?!

creak noise watch this short clip to see the noise I’m talking about

I drive a 2010 e60 and this problem has been occurring only during the colder months or 1st start after a cold night.

I think it may have something to do with the strut/strut mounts but I’m not 100% sure and don’t wanna experiment with like $450 in parts and my time to install them unless I know it’s the cause.

Please let me know if any of you know what it is or have experienced this before.

Also I should mention that I do have a clank sound when driving over bumps

Off hand the noise could come from the cold tires being turned on cold pavement.

With some sports cars even backing the car out of a parking space with the steering wheel at full lock can produce noise and some vibration in the steering wheel.

Clank noise over bumps though suggests a worn/loose steering hardware/suspension hardware.

Best advice I can offer is book the vehicle in and have a professional tech check the vehicle for any loose/worn hardware.
