BMW 2025 X3 (G45) OEM parts back-order no ETA?

I have a brand-new 2025 BMW X3 under repair. The body shop informed me that they need to replace the lift gate and rear windshield. After checking with all local dealers across the U.S., they found that no parts are currently in stock for the 2025 model.

They mentioned that the required parts need to be ordered from Germany, but they are currently on backorder with no ETA.

Would appreciate any insights into how long it typically takes for backordered parts for a new model to become available?

Did you take delivery yet? If not I’d refuse the car that seems really odd. Seems like it was hit

Unfortunately, this is a common risk for new generations of vehicles. The supply chain for repair parts is different from the supply chain for factory assembly. And each supply chain has its own timeline for ramping up. So ironically it can be much faster to assemble a whole new car right now than to repair an existing one.

Sorry to hear that you're stuck in this frustrating limbo state. I don't know how long it'll take, but hopefully for a popular model like the X3, they won't take too long to ramp up the repair parts supply chain. It might still take a few months though.

When I wanted to get a set of the 20s and all seasons for cold months my dealer said 3 months or longer before they can even price them

Hi, I’m in the exact same situation but for a 2025 x5, and I need a new liftgate and left rear panel to be replaced.

Where are you located? Please keep us updated with any updates. I’m so frustrated about the situation.

Hi I am in the east coast. Just called the body shop again today, was told two of the parts came in last week, but still have 7 parts yet to come with no ETA.

Thanks for sharing your insights. it is indeed ironical that they can build a car in three days, but takes them few months to ship the repair parts...
