The make or break for the entire vehicle for me will come down to the battery. Is this or is this battery not susceptible to thermal runaway similar to current Lithium ion NCM/NCA batteries? A Chinese brand is prepared to launch solid state batteries in mass production next year. Will BMW be competitve?

About 2 years back, I was certain that my next car will be electric. I might have been a lot more optimistic about the infrastructure catching up. But over the years, I realized that I’m not ready just because infra is not. So, still no electric for me.

On the other hand, I’m still not sure I like the new styling. Definitely do not like the grill. It seems though that most people love this design so likely this will grow on me.

With home charging, most people do not require much infrastructure at all, unless you do long distance commute a lot.
For daily commute, EV is just so much better.

I hope this iX3 would live up to or exceed expectation.
With the disappointing fact that the next X5 and next iX5 would continue to use CLAR platform, I am hoping the iX3 would attain X5 luxury and comfort level.

BMW should be on this list. This is my threshold requirement for an EV.

oh, and a full blocking sunroof shade!

Unfortunately it will likely be 2030 at the earliest.

yup... I've gone to a public/fast charging station all of 3 times this year... twice on a road trip (one on the way there, one on the way back), and once when I kept forgetting to charge my car at home for a week and needed a quick 10 min to make sure I could get through my day.

I'm at the point that I can't stand going to the gas station for my ICE car. Luckily my wife does that for the most part and I only worry about it if we're going on a trip with the whole family.

For BMW, sadly, that may be true. I expect that Chinese brands with assembly plants to be built in Mexico will follow in the footsteps of the Japanese, Koreans, and Viet Nam OEMs and be here before then, and they are launching solid state next year. The reports from the Beijing Auto Show are beyond impressive.
