Ambient light reset issue.
The x3 M50 I acquired appears to have reset the ambient light to its default blue setting every time I start the vehicle (I am almost always in personal mode). Am I missing something or everyone is experiencing the same thing?

The ambient light is bound to the drive mode.
Usually the car reverts to the default drive mode after you turn it off. There might be a setting in the iDrive where you can define the startup default drive mode. |

Yes the default mode is personal, and every single time I changed it it seems not be able to memorize it. And at a new start it reset back to blue.

My wife and I have different ambient color settings, and so far our X3 M50 has always correctly restored our respective ambient colors depending on who's driving. Just to be clear: you do have your BMW ID set up, right?

All right, this might be an existing bug for iDrive9 (or a bug in my vehicle). On/off the cloud syncing won’t help. I also tried to reset the whole iDrive9 system and re-added my phone as the digital key. And the default mode I set up is “personal,” so the personal mode somehow just intends to change the ambient light color back to the default blue color every now and then very randomly. Also, if you have 2 profiles and switch back and forth, it works just fine for both. It only happens when I have my own profile on the vehicle. I give up for now, and I will just change the color every single time then.

I use the fob (haven't tried to set up a digital card yet on my phone) and had to make sure I linked the fob to my profile. That seemed to do the trick for me. Also helped me avoid choosing my profile every time which is tied to my "personal" mode. Still spending a few minutes every day with my car getting to know all the settings and discovering something new every time.

Hi,
anybody has solved the issue? I have exactly the same problem: it resets to default blue whenever I get into the car (yes, sometime it doesn't but only if not too much time passed). I have one profile (bmw id) configured and always in a "personal" mode. Now, I have found veeeerry interested thing The problem happens only when I set the color to "ivory" (translating from Polish, don't know if it's the same name in other languages but it's the 1st color on the palette - pale brown/beige). Setting the color to any other one (i.e. green) is permanent - never resets to blue. I have tested it many times with 100% results. Any ideas? |

I have the exact same problem. The next closest color is more of a yellow and it works fine with keeping that color. The ivory choice ends up switching to blue when I get back in the car. I like the ivory color better since it goes well with my brown veganza interior. It would be nice to resolve this relatively minor problem.
