I was told an update was coming early 2025 that enables eSIM. Anyone else been told that? Also my CarPlay has been super buggy and dropping out since last update. Anyone else having issues?

That’s what I experienced during 2024.
Here in the USA I was able to receive these BMW OTA download March (3/2024.40) in early May Julys (7/2024.40) update was available in early October. Novembers (11/2024.30) update was available in mid December. And was available much sooner than others for some reason. Think Europe gets them before North America does & some dealers may be able to provide the software updates sooner than the OTA updates are sent to the vehicle. The release date doesn't say anything about the RSU date.
RSU is usually rolled out in waves per modell and is always behind release date. This can be a timeframe of 1 or 2 month. Same in Europe BMW dealers are able to install software in the workshop and they get the latest version right after the release. There is also different versions which can be identified by the .xx following the release package like 11/24.40
