www.annualcreditreport.com ~ you can get a free credit report from all three bureaus.

www.myfico.com ~ the best place to view your Fico score and learn about credit.

Credit report and credit score are two different things. There is only one web site that provides free credit reports once annually mandated by government. I forget the name of the site but you can google it.

However, a credit score is not provided. It usually costs money.

A good bank will provide your score for free. I know my credit union does.

It take years. One credit card won't make much difference athough your timely payments are recorded on a regular basis.

It is the culmination of several credit cards, mortgage, car payments, and other installment accounts over several years that determine credit.

In general, your credit score will be low until you hit 30 years old. That is not to say you won't have good credit, just that the type and size of credit you can can get will be limited until there is substantial history.

i see, cause i don't have mortgage/car payments etc.
what about like 3 credit cards just for daily uses?
if i use the credit card to the limit and always pay on time compared to i only spend like $50-$100 and also pay ontime, which one will have faster and better score or will they be the same?

Credit cards are usually the first thing folks start with when establishing credit. The is minmal risk to the card companies as they can limit your credit and they are fairly easy to get.

However, a high scoring credit report will be one with long term credit history (mortage), revovling credit (Credit cards), installment accounts, and medium term loans (car payments).

Credit cards in general do not help a lot with credit. The reason is because you set the amount to pay back each month. It can be interest only, minmal payment, etc. They do not demonstrate your ability to pay on a loan with a fixed payment each month over several years. They merely show that you can make some form of payment on time, but not necessarily the best payment. They can do more to hurt credit if you miss payments and in general should be paid off in full each month.

A history of actual loans be serviced and being paid off will help a lot more.

College loans helped my credit tremendously. I think I had a 760 or so at 21. Just make sure you make your payments and don't owe too much and it'll only go up.

AMEX just did a special and you get your free credit report and score for 30 days. I don't know which card(s) you have, but just thought I'd throw the idea out there
