Anyone found the navigation volume too high even in the minimum volume setting. Is there a way to reduce it further. It’s baffling why BMW wouldn’t provide such a simple customisation option.

I am having the same problem, minimum volume is too loud. Besides, the Japanese navigation voice reminds me of the synthetic voices of a long time ago.
Let's hope for more updates in the future.

Thanks for letting me know not just me having this feeling. It’s really weird that such high volume is default , and people are only complaining about the wind noise and acoustic glass.

When the Navi voice is heard
Use volume dial or button to adjust volume.

I know this. That’s why I mentioned the the lowest volume setting possible. See pic for reference, navigation volume lowest setting.

Yes, this is intolerably loud.

Is there still no workaround?

Not as per my knowledge.

Though it’s been several software upgrades ago, I had a few issues with the volume being either to low or to high & not able to adjust it. Have you attempted a Hard Reset? That’s what BMW service manager did to resolve my problem when I took it in. Here’s what I was told & doing when the ID9 gets glitchy.

WHEN GLITCHY ALWAYS DO A “HARD RESET”
  • START CAR & LEAVE IN PARK
  • THEN PUSH & HOLDING DOWN THE  CYLINDER VOLUME CONTROL ON CENTER CONSOLE FOR ABOUT 70 SECONDS & UNTIL THE SCREEN CYCLES OFF & ON 2-3 TIMES.

  • This is is not a glitch. It is the lowest volume possible as per the system. The music volume can go lower. And yes, I have done hard reset for other reasons not for this.

Yes, same experience: two hard resets (trying in vain to invoke the Personal Assistant) but this has had no impact on the minimum guidance volume. It's not a bug, but rather a questionable design choice that should (but may never) be rectified in future updates.

Have you tried turning off speed volume increase and volume normalization?

I have turned both off to increase audio quality and can't complain about navigation volume at the lowest setting.

Yeah, they're all off. Even the surround sound is off per your screenshots, which I should thank you for again - that all sounds much better now!

I just happen to have the world's most useless superpower: insanely sensitive hearing. So everything annoys me, like the fan cooling the wireless charger in the G45, and the nearly imperceptible click in the footwell just before the lane departure thought about stepping in on the G01, the humming of transformers buried in low voltage pot lights, that sort of mostly trivial stuff.

But the guidance volume is objectively quite loud. Even my wife, who is generally oblivious to all of this complained about it.

By any chance does yours go down all the way, like media does? It could be a regional thing to somehow protect us from ourselves.

So I checked today and it's the same as in the above screenshot where you can't get lower than the beginning of the dotted area.

Volume is fine for me as I mostly listen to loud heavy metal music while driving. :D

The visual for the volume seems to have a bug. Yes, mine looks like yours The volume, when set to minimum, is no louder than my radio on a fairly low volume (like 10%). It's about a normal level for someone sitting next to me talking without the car running. It's pretty quiet. If it was much quieter, I would not hear it well at highway speeds, I suspect.

Does yours seem to be louder than a normal conversion level? That's the question, I guess. So, yes, the display has a bug, in my opinion, but in my case, the lowest setting is not too loud.

Yes, mine is louder than someone speaking next to me speaking at a normal volume with the engine off.

That said, I just discovered an additional volume slider in the Waze app, so I'm optimistic that they're sequential.

I will report back once I've played with it.

Well, that did indeed fix the problem.

Perhaps I'll now have to increase the navigation volume in the M3 to compensate for the reduction within the Waze app, but no matter - at least I've finally wrested control from the machine.

Here is what worked for me. While the Navigation voice is talking, use one of the volume control buttons to lower the volume. Only works when the voice is talking. I got the voice down to a reasonable level for me.

Also, lest it get lost in the melee, see #18 and #19 for the solution if you've already done that and STILL find it too loud.
