Hey guys sorry I've been away from the desk. Helping everyone move their boxes to their cars....
It's been terrible.. they wiped upper management across the board along with some of the other guys I work with. I've become close with a few of these people and it is just awful to watch them go.. with no plan.... mortgages... families... car payments.. I can't even imagine what they are feeling. It's a sad day here. Only a handful of us Investment managers left in the offices and our mentors gone... About your question though..... She actually made the cut and oddly enough I will be reporting directly to her now (she's the assistant vice president).. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.... She did say we would be working closer together than shes ever been able to work with me before..... Eh. I dunno what to say.. lol

Sorry to hear about the troubles at your company. On the brighter side, it sounds like the hot VP is after some action. |

My wife works in Asset Management and they just had layoff's yesterday too.
Bad feeling - they let about 40 people go. In my experience - I've worked at places and have gone through "Downsizing"/"Rightsizing" back in 1993 and 2001/2002, the first round of people to go are usually given good severance packages. In confidential industries such as Finance, you pack your things and leave the same day, but generous packages are given in order to: 1. Help the laid off, and 2. prevent any hard feelings from suing the company.. The later rounds of layoffs usually get worse packages...

Well, maybe they ought to run their business a little better so they wouldn't have to worry about that. I've never felt sorry for a company that decided to lay off a bunch of workers then worried that those workers might end up helping a competitor. If they could help a competitor, then they could help the company they are already in. If your company is having a hard time doing business with the client list they already have, then it's not going to be much help to a competitor anyhow, nor will it be much help to KEEP the client list around if you don't have the labor force to keep up with it.

Suck up to her, if she is the VP she likely isn't going anywhere unless something big happens. Being on her good side could keep you your job. When my dad was President of his company he got a friend of his moved into his division so he didn't get fired.
