Audi TT S

The Audi TT S will debut at the Detroit Auto Show next week. Using the 2.0L Turbo 4 Cylinder as a base they strengthened some internal parts, upped the boost and are putting out 272 hp/258 lb ft of torque. The torque is essentially flat from 2500 to 5000 RPM. The estimated 0-60 times are 5.4 seconds for the Coupe and 5.6 for the roadster. Price is expected to be around $60,000.

Now some will argue the TT is more of a competitor for the Z4 coupe/roadster than the 1er, but still $60K? Yeah it's got Quattro - but $60K?

OK, now what? ; -)

Audi simply doesnt always put the right engines in the right cars. The 2.0T is a great base engine for the TT. The torque and light chassis make up for only 200hp. Where Audi screwed up was the 3.2 model. Sure you get quattro but also a heavier engine that isnt that much more powerful--and doesnt feel it either. The 3.2 is maybe a hair faster than the 2.0T on the track. This new hopped up 2.0T should replace the 3.2 without question (or maybe a 300hp 3.6).

The TT-RS is rumored to have a turbocharged inline 5. THIS is the engine that needed to go in the TT-S.

Audi is also making a mistake by saving their 3.0 TFSI V6 for the S4 instead of putting it in a range topping A4. If the top of the line 3 series has a 3L turbo then why skimp on the A4? Give the new S4 the RS4's 420HP 4.2 and revive the 4.2 biturbo for the new RS4.

Hi there,

they say the TTS Coupe with DSG accelerates from 0-100km/h in 5.2 Seconds. BMW gives the 135i 5.3 Seconds:-)
I think in real life the 135i will kill the TTS, only the first meters will be better for TTS and its better weight....
And with the right software in both cars the TTS will be killed:biggrin:
