I wash my car 1x a week no matter what color or car. I love black cars and I enjoy my car but I agree it doesnt hide scratches and it drives me crazy, which ruins the love of a black car LOL.

I could probably give you some information about black azure as I know this color from my BMW. Although it used to be a super color in the beggining after washing the car a few times the paint is now full of hair line swirl marks. These swirls are quite annoying as they give the impression that the car has a poor paintwork. Depending on the light reflections they can be quite visible. The car is just one year old and I have always taken it for washing at places that the BMW office recommends which use textile machines.

I have been told that black azure and ruby black individual colors are very sensitive to anything that touches the car surface. Hence, it is unavoidable that during washing such swirls are formed.

+1. I had an E46 Silver Grey (I wish they had it in the E92) for a few years and that thing took a beating, yet even when dirty as hell, it still LOOKED clean. For a DD, it was very easy to maintain.

I've had two black cars, 1 red, and 3 silvers. Silver is def the best, and black is the worse by far, but looks amazing when it is clean.

Keep your black car. Buy a filter than removes the mineral deposits from your water (so you can let it air dry instead of scratching it while drying it). Buy a high quality orbital polisher and polish/wax it a few times a year. Clay it as often as necessary. Enjoy...

There's no better looking color than black. Just spend a few hundred dollars on the filter and orbital. Griot's makes great ones in respect to both. The orbital is better than the PC (it's made by Makita) as it has more torque and actually draws air through the pad so the pad never heats up. I think it's less expensive too...

Tiag, period. 3 cars in my family are silver, and we had black, dark grey, arctic, etc... Silver is the best color for hiding dirt. Perfect for daily commuter.
However it will never give you the shine of a black car.
