Quartz it technically more accurate.
Admire automatic watches more tho. Right now my daily watch is a Seiko Kinetic (which is a hybrid movement...quartz movement but powered by a pendulum like an automatic). If I had a choice between buying a cheap automatic...I would actually prefer to get a Seiko SpringDrive watch. |

Quartz makes for a nice, cheap, accurate watch, but mechanicals are so much more interesting. I don't understand quartz watches that sell for more than about $500, unless you're either trying to get ultra-slim or prefer a digital chrono or some sort of safety feature like the Breitling Emergency series.
I have a quartz heart rate monitor, but prefer mechanical watches for anything else. I have two automatics and one manual winder. I'd love to find a nice, manual wind, two register chrono, but haven't found the right one. |
