Buying A New Jetta $500 Over MSRP Good Or Can I Do Better?
so the decison on my mom's commuter is is done. vw jetta se. it comes standard fully loaded and with navigation costs about $24k. german engineering mostly based on audi and for the price you can't go wrong with a 2.5l 170hp 177tq on regular gas with 20/29 epa.
resale value wise vw holds equal to or greater than honda/toyota which is a +. i suggested the diesal but from seeing how the old diesals ran back in the day smelly, sucks in cold, etc my mom will stick to her old ways . so how is $500 over msrp sound or can i do better?

VW is not providing incentives, did not realize they were not hurting like the rest of the auto companies... hell BMW is offering Invoice and 0.9 finance, friend just bought 335i E93 under those terms.
Just bought the Wife a Ford Flex and got it for invoice and less $4k of incentives especially if you take it off the lot. Ordering is another story, most are charging MSRP for an order right now. |

Dealers are trying to charge for locating a car, I ran into that with my Flex, they wanted $700 to located it since many dealers today claim they do not want to do dealer trade since they all want cars off their lots. I was able to get this waived since I got the dealer who had it on the their lot to do a trade with my local dealer.

That dealers is trying to F you over big time. $500 over MSRP for a jetta? Are you F**king kidding me?
Isn't VW offering 3.9% financing on Jetta's? I know some dealers in the D.C. area are offering .09% financing on EVERY model. Can't see a company having that kind of offer yet charging over MSRP for a jetta. Doesn't make sense unless he's trying to pull a fast one. |

X2 A person would be CRAZY to pay over MSRP for a car in the current economic climate. If that's what they want, let it sit on the lot, because there's damn sure not a line of people waiting to snag it. I wouldn't pay MSRP for anything right now, especially not a run-of-the-mill VW. |

Have you looked at VW's scores in Consumer Reports? You must not like your Mom much...
I would suggest paying for their buyers service too. No offense intended, but if you are even considering paying over sticker for a car, especially a mass market car, you really need some help. www.consumerreports.org I have read forum posts (for what they are worth admittedly) of GT-R's going for below sticker now. So a Jetta for over sticker = epic fail. FYI, if you love your mother you will get her a Honda or Toyota. |
