If BMW and Benz brought their Euro lines here they'd meet the 35.5 standard, but over here, people wouldn't buy a BMW economy car.

Obama's Fuel Economy Rules To Spare BMW
According to yesterday's Wall Street Journal, the Obama administration has proposed to set less stringent fuel economy rules for BMW (and Mercedes and any other car maker that sells less than 400,000 cars in the US). Hmmm. This might not derail BMW's future ///M-plan away from NA engines and towards more FI, but it could change the HP profiles. It will be interesting to watch.
