It really depends on your budget and the type of housing you are looking for. Buying or Renting? 3 Br+ or less? Yard? Public schools or Private?
If you said, condo...then you can go anywhere. You can even go brentwood condo....but its going to cost you like $800k+. If you want to buy, but budget is more like $600k or less....forget about santa monica, west la, brentwood, PV, etc. I currently live in a nicer part of torrance...3BR/2Bath house with small front/rear yards. ~1800 Sq Ft (not that big). Most homes in my area are valued from $550k-$950k. Just to give you an idea of the current situation in the Southbay. If you have some more specific parameters, then we can give you a better idea of what areas might work.
