OK, not that this helps you, but I'm not having that issue with v9, on either purchased or ripped songs - can still change any of the properties. Is it like that on every song for you? Could be a setting, or the fact that I've rebooted (Windows) and relaunched iT.

i stopped upgrading itunes once i found out the new versions prevent you from moving itune songs to the palm pre.
