Google is not your friend. You should become pals with Snopes, my friend.

If it's on the internet it must be true!

The wheels don't even match any type that are offered on a Smart

Guys, its an Escape - as previously mentioned. The real article actually states that they figured a smart car might have faired better as the roof is stiffer.

Well, I will admit, that a smart has three lug wheels and this appears to have 4 (but maybe its my vision) but I don't see anything else definitive. But, the PIC someone included seems to show a escape with 5 lugs.

Having played the snopes game with the various fedex/DHL virus notifications (and others), I can tell you its not more factual than google.

The wheel in the picture has 5 lug nuts. You can also see the black plastic pull type door handle on whats left of the passenger door.

Here is a larger image where you can count more clearly:

It is a Ford Escape SUV - but the story circulated on many boards identifying it as a Smart car - which is not correct. Here is more :

There's just simply too much metal (or plastic) between the trucks for a Smart car...

If its a Smart car...the rear truck would simply just rear-end the the truck in front....
