Used sleep for a half a dozen systems over 3+ years and never had a single problem.

I used to work/build on computers/notebooks/networks during highschool (job). There is absolutely nothing wrong with leaving it on 24/7. Power consumption in sleep mode is next to nothing.

In most cases, restarting once a month is minimum (at least in the MS world of patching).. and I consistently go that length of time with no performance problems.

If you use your computer just for music and internet then you'll be fine but if you use alot of memory intensive programs, then you must restart or purge your ram.

Damn you guys really leave the computers on like crazy.
I can't even last a day withtout rebooting couple of time let alone making sure I shut it down at night due to heavy applications I use, and I'm talking about near $7k desktop machine. Rebooting and proper shut downs = maximum performance. |
