Ride in an modified EVO 10...

I got a ride back from a shop in a new Evo X. It was modified with different aero (front splitter)...19" wheels...and a few other things. That thing is too weird for me. It has decent aluminum trim..that is then ruined by chrome pieces...bleech. The three controls for air conditioning...look very cheap. The shifter was very interesting though...the manual automatic dealie shifted very very fast. Accelerated very nicely...HP in these is what? 325?

I love cars that tell me I am on tarmac...like I couldnt tell already.

My friend bought an Evo X(GSR) when they came out. I drove it several time and I can say that I would not buy one. Build quality is not that great(chipping paint+rust spots showing)I don't like the seating position and in stock form the engine feels like an asthmatic kid. I'd take an STI or WRX 265 any day over an Evo. Did I mention the notchy shifter. I liked the handling, stock tires ,brakes and Recaro.

Complaining about the interior in an Evo is like bitching because your $50 hooker doesn't have good manors at dinner.

Also, the car's not telling you you're on tarmac. You're telling IT you're on tarmac.

I would take an Evo 9 over the WRX 265. Ill take the EVO 9 over the 10. I like raw cars and the Evo 9 fits the bill. The X has too much weight too many gizmos.

I have several friends with Evos...this new one is very very strange. I still dont like it...it is more mainstream...rather than a track rat.

Very heavy car. I'v driven X's a LOT, including the MRs. Was close to buying one a few times, just couldn't do it. It wasn't my old STi and it ain't my 135i. The turbo lag is attrocious and the thing weighs a LOT. Steering is absolutely top notch. 13 to 1 ratio, killer grip, but that's about it. 2.0 liters is still 2.0 liters. Not saying you can't make BIG power, because you can, just not the power I like.

Temporarily yes....I found a relatively inexpensive 1999 A4 1.8T with a Stage 3 APR kit on it...Evoms FMIC...HKS intake...Neuspeed catback...H&R coilovers...sway bars....etc. Got it for only $6K and change.

APR stage 3 on this car is 280 chp...but I have intake and intercooler....not sure what the torque is...I really need to dyno it. I am not out to have a killer A4...I just want something that goes nicely. Lag is more than the 335..that is for sure.

Nice try! But your analogy is all wrong because the EvoX is not a cheap car. It cost almost the same as a 135i. Except it has less power and cheaper interior. It does handle better than any 1 series thou.

It's cheap based on the performance hardware you get. Would it be better if I'd said a $500 hooker than can operate a trapeze like a pro?

The 4WD system is very advanced. What cheap performance hardware are you referring to?

I said the price is cheap when you consider what kind of hardware you're getting. Not that the hardware is cheap. The car's a performance bargin, and that's why the interior isn't as nice as something that's going for more luxury than performance.

The whole point is, you don't get into a car like an Evo and judge it based on the interior. That's not the point of the car.

my evo was pretty fun, but that ride was over by the time you hit around 110mph. After that it fell on its face so hard.

Horsepower at the crank. BTW, the stage three kit has 300 ft lbs of torque..but not at the wheel.

It's cool man. I actually completely with you on Evo10. I simply don't care much about them. The day 4g63 died the evo isn't really an evo anymore IMO.
