GAP Insurance?

My insurer, Nationwide, no longer issues their GAP protection for policies.

Any tips, info, or suggestions on where to pick some up?

Thanks.

You're out of luck. GAP must be purchsed at the time the vehicle is purchased, unless provided by your insurer. After 12 years in the management in the car business, I never recommend buying GAP from you insureance provider. Think about it. Who are they there to protect? Themselves. There are usually clauses that say they will only pay up to 110% of book value. What book? Wholesale or retail? You catch where I'm going with this. Most independant GAP providers will cover up to 150% of retail book. I wish I could give you better advice on where to find it but I don't know. I would at least try to contact your dealer. It may be worth a shot.

I always decline GAP isnurance... unless you think the value of your car is going to tank you are only really at risk for a short time.

Best thing to do is to finance through a bank that provides it. My company, State Farm Bank, gives it for free with all vehicle loans, and it's definitely a huge benefit.

I feel having it is worth it especially when purchasing a vehicle new that will depreciate rapidly.
