No license after 2 1/2 months !!

So here is the scenario. I passed my driving test on november 2nd of 09, they gave me the temporary license and said that it would take around 2 weeks to get my drivers license card in the mail. Its january 17th and i still haven't received it. I have called them 4 times during this 2 1/2 month period and they said that they were still processing it.
I called 2 days ago to get more information about what could be taking so damn long

and while talking to the lady over the phone, I realized that my passport/white card is off by 1 letter and maybe this could be the problem (it has never been an issue before this moment) . Social security says my correct name and my passport/white card has one extra letter at the end. My temporary license expires in two weeks and I have no f^&King idea to where to go to fix this

Have you guys ever encountered something like this or know where i should go to get this fixed and get my license ??? Any help would be appreciated.

The DMV is running pretty slow because of the budget crisis

Go to the DMV now and get your temp license extended

didn't know they gave you a temporary license in CA...we get ours right on the spot

yea, they need to confirm identity and stuff, thats why they need a week or so......... 2 1/2 months in my case

dmv running slow? nah, they told me at least three weeks, no sooner. i received mine 1 1/2 weeks later.

passed on the 30th, received the hardcopy in the mail on the 9th.

WTH is this waiting thing? When I turned 16 I took my driving exam, walked back into the building and walked out with a license in less then 10 minutes.

My roommate got his like a year later and only because he called like 100 times.
