Sparks is another great old school steakhouse and it's a short walk from Grand Central.
Also, FYI Peter Lugers only takes cash (and lots of it) and whoever said Brooklyn food is not good has missed some great places. I used to live in Brooklyn myself and I thought the food was great. LOTS of culture in the area (second only to Queens, aka mini-UN) so no shortage of flavors. Is it Manhattan? No. But it's far from bad.

I wouldn't want to drop more then a $100 on lunch for both of us so I would suspect that would leave a lot of room. We won't be getting any cocktails either. Save that for the night out.
My cousin lives on 14th St. by prospect park. Which doesn't seem too far from Manhatten.
