This is the creepy part:

"Texas Auto Center uses Webtech Plus to disable vehicles whose owners are behind on payments. The system connects to a small box installed under the dashboard, and allows the dealership to disable the ignition or trigger the horn. Running vehicles are not affected by the commands."

if thats what hacking is these days, then I'm a hacker for downloading warez from the interweb.....

This guy used his work software to do it..thats not hacking... Now if it was some kid who was able to hack into their system, and then do it, that would be hacking...but using your work program is not hacking.

I used to work for a company that owned a car dealership like this. It's a "Buy Here Pay Here" kind of place for people with very bad credit. Places like that charge over book value on used cars and hit customers with APRs anywhere from 10% to as much as 30%. If the customers are as much as a day or two late on their payments they use these devices to remotely disable the cars. So you either pay up or they come and repo. This is like sub-subprime credit stuff. It's a shitty and shady business.

+1

Looks like a shady place: http://www.texasautocenter.net/

And the company that provides the disable services looks equally shady: http://www.payteck.cc/aboutpayteck.html
