I wanted to bring this thread back up from the dead instead of posting something new....

I was surprised to find out that the Mazdaspeed 3 goes 0-60 in 5.8 sec and has a 1/4 time of 14.4

The 328i manual goes 0-60 in 6.2 sec and has a 1/4 of 14.8

The Mazdaspeed 3 has 38 more hp and 80 more lb/ft of torque and is only .4 seconds quicker. What gives? Is it cause the mazdaspeed cant control that kinda of power on the ground being a front wheel drive car, mazda underrating the speed, or no to everything, the numbers sound about right?

You're right on the first two counts-FWD wheel spinn=traction control must kick in to stop spinn=less power to the ground.

To 100Km/Hour the difference with the 328 is inexistant!!!

Front wheel drive sucks no matter how you spin it (no pun intended).... It's just simple physics that under acceleration, weight is transfered to the rear, where your traction needs to be. I would take a nice NA 4 cylinder rear wheel drive car over a front wheel drive turbo-4 or V6 (or V8) any day.

Your also comapring the best time in a mag run for a 328i manual and one of the slowest for the mazdaspeed 3. The real number on a mazdaspeed 3 is about 14.1. Hell my wifes mazdaspeed protege only 170hp ran a 15.2 stock and about 14.6 (if I rember right at Englishtown) with an with only an Injen CAI and Dual stage turbo xs boost controller. Who knows though and the difference between the times you posted in 10% so the car is 10% faster which is not a little amount. My wifes mazdaspeed has 90k on it and runs perfect its been a great car. Is it better than any BMW, NO WAY. The Mazdaspeed versions are cars are very good though from my experience espically for FWD. The LSD in the mazdaspeed protege works awesome when you push the car. I did well with it in Auto-X considering I am a beginner in AUTO-X.

5.4 0-60 for the MS3 according to R&T and the brochure. I test drove one again last night, this car would not be that far off from a 335 once you're moving..it flat out rips.

The MS3 is a beast from a roll. It's very tuner friendly also.

Also, you need to add the new Holden SSV (new Pontiac G8) to your list... Me likey.
Yeah I owned the G8 GT very nice ride....nothing close to a pontiac since it's Holden made and designed.
