Great dog to good home!

I take full responsibilty for this.

My wife & I recently bought a house, and we've always thought that we would want a dog to go along with it. Well, we got one, and we were wrong. The dog is really great. House/crate trained. Responds to; sit, stay, fetch, drop, play on your mat. He's really a whore for hotdogs and will learn anything pretty quickly to get them.

He is fully current on his shots and is neutered. He also spend ten days at 'puppy school' being trained while we were moving.

It turns out that we are really not dog people. I get very stressed the moment I wake up thinking about how long he has been in his crate. Then I get stressed at work worrying about him. I can't enjoy going out because I think it is unfair to leave him locked up.

We had intended for him to be an indoor/outdoor dog, but our fence funds got obliterated by two severe plumbing leaks within a week of moving into the house.

Anyway, he is supercute & personable. He seems to be ok with cats being around, but they don't come out until they know he is in his cage, however he doesn't bark at them at all. I'm sure he would love children.

that sucks, I know how it feels because I had to give up my dog once when I was in college and my landlord was being a dick and parents live in apartment. But then luckily, the housing busted almost right after and parents bought a proper house and the guy that took him (a private pitbull rescuer person) happily gave him back to me after 4 months. It was the only time I can remember that I almost cried in close to a decade.
That been said, it seems like you are giving him up for the wrong reasons. How big is your yard? maybe you can borrow some money from friends and family, or take out a small personal line. Or even get 1 of those invisible fence thing. Or train him to only go on a pad in the bathroom and don't crate him. Anything to hold off until you can build the fence.
Because once you give him up, and later on you build your fence anyways and every time you look at your fence, you will think of him and that's gotta be a shitty feeling.

Try craigslist if you havent already. Youll find him a home in a day or two. Just make sure you interview the prospective new owners to weed out the undesirables.

+1

we once found a golden retriever (started following us to our home in our daily walks)..eventually we let him stay at our house. The dog was very well trained and however we could not locate the owner. We wanted to keep the golden retriever but the golden retriever kept fighting with our dog (Husky/Malamute).

Eventually we had to give the retriever a new home. We posted a ad saying a fully trained golden retriever for 300dollars. Few people were interested, and we gave it to a couple for FREE. We posted a price because it helps eliminate the bad owners. Needless to say, sometimes the new owners go on vacation and we let the dog stay at our house a few days of the year.

@ pic 2. I love dogs. If I could take another one I would. Good luck finding a home for the little pup. Make sure you screen the applicants.

I personally let my dog sleep in the bed with me cause he isn't a huge dog. I don't see a need to crate overnight if he behaves and sleeps well.

Put a dog bed beside your bed, I bet he would love that.

+1. I let our dogs sleep me with sometimes. They're not caged up virtually 100% of the time. Why stress about the dog? I mean if he's well trained then just trust him and keep him out. Either way good luck with everything and I hope he finds a good home. I once saw a guy giving up his dog at the shelter because he could no longer keep him. I was sad for the guy. I wasn't even the owner and I felt really bad. The dog looked back at him while being taken away as if he knew. I would say if you love your dog, you shouldn't give him up unless it's the last resort.
