3D TV's + Xbox 360?
All im seeing these days are commercials for 3D tv's and people with massive goggles on their eyes watching it. I thought to myself, does this mean Battlefield Bad Company 2 can also be experienced in 3D???
So, I was hoping any owners here can chime in and tell us if the game's are also rendered in 3D? Im soon to buy a TV, so im wondering the possibilities here.

in short NO. Even if you have a 3D TV, if a game is not 3D capable, its useless. Not to mention the 360 can't even output 3D to your tv, so even if a game is 3D compatible, the 360 its self isnt. Now unless it has the capabilities and like Sony they too release a 3D firmware. I highly doubt that though.
PS: I have a 360 |

Yes, the Xbox supports 3D games if you have an Elite or newer model. Steroscopic 3D requries HDMI to function and the older pre-Elite Xboxs do not have HDMI. Currently Xbox only has 3 "real" 3D games. Avatar the Game, G-Force and an arcade title I don't recall the name of. If you have an HDMI equipped Xbox and a 3DTV you can play these games in 3D and I'm sure there are more on the way. OR you can buy a 3DTV that upconverts 2D to 3D. Not all models do this, I know Samsungs do, and I know some don't but don't remember the brand. (Samsung models also have a specific video game setting.) But with upconversion you can play any game and watch anything you want in 3D. Upconverted 3D isn't as good as real 3D is, but it's something thats fun to fool around with and works well with some games and not so well with others. The only difference between the Xbox and PS3 as far as 3D goes is the ability to play the movies. An HDMI equipped Xbox can send 3D signals to the TV with no problem, the problem is all 3D movies will be released on bluray and the Xbox doesn't have bluray support. But I assume that if 3D takes off Microsoft will simply start selling 3D movies as downloads through Xbox Live to compete. |
