Speaking of which, one of my friends was over 225 lb so they made him pay an extra $20 (kinda embarrassing). But when the rigged us up, he got the same harness as everyone else. Anyways, did you get that certificate since it was your first jump?

I didn't get the butterflies until the very moment that we were standing right at the door and looking out of the plane into the vastness of the sky. Then my eyes went like O_O and you know that feeling when your nuts shrink into your body (like the feeling right before the drop on a rollercoaster)? Yeah, I got that feeling, except 10 times more. The freefall part was complete sensory overload. I couldn't process everything that was happening so all I could do was scream in amazement. I may have even enjoyed the parachute ride as much, if not more, than the freefall itself because the view was so beautiful. I felt like a bird, so I had a permanent smile on my face because humans shouldn't be up there like that.

I know someone has said otherwise, but I got absolutely ZERO of that stomach in the throat feeling like when you go over the big drop on a roller coaster. I was surprised at that.

My girlfriend and I have been wanting to do this for months!

I really don't mean to pry or anything but where did you guys go? We've been looking up places around the tri-state area and haven't decided on one. Also, I'm assuming you went individually strapped to experienced instructors etc, right? It seems like a blast, we just haven't gotten organized enough to try yet.

Just did my first jump yesterday (I actually started a thread about it...I searched "skydiving and nothing turned up...). Absolutely amazing! I'm completely hooked and fully intend to get my license. There is no way to describe the feeling you have for the first 4-5 seconds after leaving the plane. It just has to be experienced. Does anyone here have their license? Advice on gear or licensing?

False. Your first jump is not always tandem, mine wasn't. You have to have an instructor jump with you, but they do not need to be connected.

I just got a tandem jump so my gf can go with me in Chicagoland for $120 off of groupon.com.

I had my license 2 years ago but have not jumped recently. I will need to have an instructor jump with me (again not connected, just observing) to get current again before going solo.

Gear is expensive. I used to rent a chute at the place I used to go. If you fold your own parachute (pretty easy actually) then it is really cheap. I used to pay $17 a jump.

No I think he meant it cost $17 when he packed his own chute.

My place charges $23/jump if you have your own gear and pack your own chute.

Yeah, $17 to rent the chute and get a plane ride up when I packed the parachute myself. It was slightly more if you had someone else pack the parachute for you.
