Watch Overhaul
My Cartier has been losing time these past few months and finally sent it in for service. Since I heard stories about how expensive Cartier was, I opted to send it to an non-Cartier service provider who specialized in high end watches figuring I would save a few bucks. So after a week or so of testing / observing the movement and time accuracy, they tell me that it needs to be overhauled. Without thinking twice I told them to have at it and to do what was necessary. I had the watch for 5 years so figured it was due.
A month later I get a call informing me that the service was complete and that the cost was $700 -- Reluctantly, I bit my tongue but was thinking WTF??? I did pick up the watch and it looks and works perfectly... they actually did a really nice job polishing all of the scratches out of the band and casing. Still was remorseful however for getting caught off-guard. Know it was my bad for not asking in the first place. Did I get ripped off? For those of you who have had your watch overhauled, what did you pay and for what type of watch? Louie A |

I had my Breitling overhauled recently after 5 years of use, it was losing time also. The cost was $400 + taxes and I had it done by a Breitling-approved shop. It is working perfectly now. $700 seems to be a bit high for your Cartier.

ask to speak with the manager. say you weren't expecting such a high price and that the representative on the phone never even mentioned it. see what they can do, maybe they'll give you a discount.
